“Healthy Snacks/food you can afford to buy while in university; when you are starving, and you don’t want to go to your parents begging them to bring/send you food.”
Salute everyone!
So today, I thought it would be a good idea to share some tips to all of my College students on what to buy while at school, when ALL of the food dining places at school are CLOSED! And, you don’t want to go home/call home begging for food, because you don’t want them to think you cannot handle it on your own. Here are a few things that I personally purchased, to snack on when dining places on campus are closed after 5pm, and I am left starving.
-Unsalted pretzels (any brand, but my favorite is Snyder’s of Hanover).
Here’s Why: unsalted pretzels are a great snack because it is low in calories, and low in sodium. Paired with some water, you’ll be left feeling full.
-bananas : bananas are a great source of potassium, helps with your digestion and lowers your blood pressure. It is low in calories, and provides a natural sweetness Incase you’re craving something sweet.
-COFFEE!!! Now I personally LOVE coffee!! I grew up drinking coffee since I was young, so I’m already biased. Now coffee helps provide you with energy, and it is only 5 calories! (Usually when I drink coffee in the morning , I tend to stay full for a very long time.)
-Peanut butter with Whole Wheat bread. Nuts are a great source of iron. You can substitute peanut butter for another type of nut if you’d like. I personally love eating a peanut butter sandwich with banana. That combination goes so well together! If you pair it with a cup of coffee, you’d feel full for HOURS, so that means no need to go and purchase fast food, and the little bit of money you have left, you can save it.
-tea(any type). Tea has absolutely no calories, and so many great health benefits! There are so many to choose from. There are types that Helps with your immune system, digestion, stress, insomnia, etc.
-apples. Apples are naturally known to help you stay fuller longer. They are a great source of antioxidants. I am not a huge fan of apples, but whenever I am running low on cash and I need something to hold me over for the day, I know I can grab and apple be alright.
