Since high school…
by Kat Naelle
You know when I was a senior in high school I told myself that I couldn’t wait till I graduated… I told myself that once I graduated I wasn’t going to talk to anyone! I was going to be independent, a new person m, I was going to make new friends, and forget about the old ones.
I told myself that when I entered college I was going to be surrounded by mature, fine men and that these high school boys were nothing!
I told myself that my current friends didn’t care about me and that the friends that I would make in college would be long lasting…
I told myself these things.
I feed into the lies that Hollywood movies showed me…
That high School was a joke and the real work and that my real life would only began once I started college.
Since high school…
I’ve worked hard trying to reconnect with old friends and tried to mend broken friendships that my words had caused.
I tried to reconnect with an old flame that I burnt out because I feed into the lies that “Greek” fed me…
I almost destroyed a path that was already created for me because I wanted to construct my own path that my mere mind couldn’t even fathom.
Since high school,
I begged and prayed to find friends in college, like the friends that I had in high school.
So ironic…
That what I prematurely dropped in high school is what I am desperately looking to find now in my adult age.
Since high school,
My joy and peace are no longer the same…
I’ve searched and tried to find that child like faith that I had within…
And slowly,
As I begged and my groaning in prayer; my God heard my plea and reunited me back with my best girls…
I told them how I missed them so, and this time,
I promise I will NEVER LET THEM GO!
